Privacy Policy
Dockside shows Nintendo eShop discounts worth your time. It works without an account and never asks for your name or email. It shows banner ads in the free tier and uses Google Analytics for Firebase to learn how the app is used, without advertising identifiers. This page lists everything the app stores and how to delete it.
What we store, and why
The first time you open the app it creates an anonymous account: a random ID with no name, email, or password behind it. That ID lets your owned games and wishlist follow you between launches and lets us send you the deal alerts you asked for.
| Data | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous account ID and creation date | Keeps your lists attached to your install | Our database |
| Games you mark as owned (title, cover reference, date marked) | Hides them from deals and builds your profile | Our database |
| Wishlist entries (game, optional target price, date added, last price we alerted you about) | Sends a push when a wishlisted game goes on sale or hits your target | Our database |
| Your saved filter and deal-alert settings | Restores your view and powers the optional daily digest | Our database and on your device |
| Push notification token | Addresses notifications to your device; deleted when you turn notifications off | Our database |
| Problem reports you send (your text, the time, and optionally the game and catalog version) | Fixing wrong scores, prices, or matches | Our database |
| Premium status, if you buy it (active until, product, store) | Unlocks premium features | Our database, via RevenueCat |
| Catalog cache, image settings, notification preferences | Instant launches and offline reading | Your device only |
Device and diagnostic data
- Crash reports. If the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends a report with the device model, operating system version, app version, and the technical trace of the crash. No account data or game lists are attached. Google retains these for 90 days.
- App integrity checks. To keep bots and modified clients out of our database, the app proves it is a genuine build using Google Play Integrity on Android and Apple App Attest on iOS. Your device produces a verdict that Google or Apple sign; we receive only the verdict, not device identifiers.
- Installation ID. Firebase assigns each install a random identifier used by the crash, integrity, notification, and analytics services. It is not linked to any personal identity.
- Usage analytics. Google Analytics for Firebase records which screens you open, which filters and sorts you apply, which games you view or open in the eShop, wishlist and owned changes, notification opens, and whether the premium screen was shown, along with device model, operating system, app version, and country. It records how many games are on your wishlist, not which ones are linked to you personally. Search text is never recorded. We use it to see what works and what doesn't. Advertising identifiers and ad-personalization signals are switched off in both apps, and Google keeps event data for 14 months.
Network requests
Like any app that loads data, the app makes network requests, and the servers on the other end see your IP address in standard server logs:
- Our servers on Google Firebase and Cloudflare, in the United States, deliver the catalog, cover images, and your lists.
- Nintendo's image servers may serve a cover directly when our mirror doesn't have it.
- The eShop. Tapping a game's store button opens nintendo.com in your browser, where Nintendo's own privacy policy applies.
The app never sends your lists, settings, or reports anywhere except our own database.
Advertising
The free tier shows banner ads from Google AdMob between rows of the deals list, and nowhere else: never on a game's page, never as video, never full-screen. Premium removes them. On iOS the app never asks for tracking permission, so ads there are not personalized. On Android, AdMob may use the device's advertising ID to serve and measure ads, and in the EEA and UK you'll be asked for consent before any ad is requested; you can reset the advertising ID or opt out of personalization in Android's settings. Google's use of that data is described in Google's advertising policy.
Purchases
Premium is a subscription sold through Apple's App Store or Google Play. Your payment details go to Apple or Google only; we never see them. RevenueCat processes the store receipt on our behalf and tells our server whether the subscription is active, using your anonymous account ID as the customer ID. We store the result: whether Premium is active, until when, which product, and which store. Cancel or manage the subscription in the store's own settings; "Restore purchases" in Profile re-checks the store for this account.
Notifications
Push notifications are sent only if you allow them. There are two kinds: a short "new deals" broadcast when a sale wave arrives, and alerts for games on your wishlist. Both have their own switch in Profile, and you can also silence the app in your device settings. Turning notifications off deletes your notification token from our database.
What we don't do
- No cross-app tracking, no ad-personalization signals to Google Analytics, no tracking permission requested on iOS.
- No selling, renting, or sharing of your data with anyone, except the service providers named on this page who process it on our behalf.
- No tracking across other apps or websites, and no request for the iOS tracking permission.
- No collection of contacts, location, photos, or precise device identifiers.
Your controls
- Export. Profile → Export data gives you a JSON file of everything stored for your account.
- Delete. Profile → Delete all data removes your owned games, wishlist, filter, deal alert, and problem reports from our database immediately. Do this before uninstalling if you want nothing left behind, since the anonymous account can survive a reinstall on iOS.
- Notifications. Two switches in Profile, or your device's notification settings.
- Anything else. Email contact@docksidegames.com with the account ID shown at the bottom of Profile (tap it to copy) and we will delete or send you your data within 30 days.
Retention
Account data stays as long as your anonymous account exists, or until you clear it from Profile or ask us to. Problem reports are kept until the issue is resolved, then removed in periodic clean-ups. Crash reports expire after 90 days.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has used the app and want their data removed, email us and we will delete it.
Service providers
- Google Firebase: authentication, database, push delivery, crash reports, app integrity, usage analytics.

- Google AdMob: banner ads in the free tier. Where the law requires it, Profile has an "Ad privacy options" entry to change your consent choices.
- RevenueCat: subscription status for Premium.

Changes
If we add a feature that changes what we store, this page will be updated before it ships, with the effective date above. Material changes will also be noted inside the app.
